Austinites are loving the  warmer weather.  Fortunately, signs of Spring are begging to emerge from recent showers. Most noticeably, bluebonnets are in full bloom and are blanketing Austin roadsides, making morning commutes a little more beautiful. This time of year, Texas’ state flower blooms as if its sole purpose is for us to enjoy, and of course, take photos in.

If you’re new to town or just looking for Austin’s best spots for blue bonnets,we’ve got you covered.  Plan your wildflower photo shoot at one of these locations, and you won’t be disappointed. For even more wildflower fun, check out TxDot’s Wildflower Sightings page.

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Though the Wildflower Center is a great place to see native flowers and foliage year-round, this time of year it is taken over by lovely bluebonnets.

Capital of Texas Highway (Hwy 360)

The dreaded morning drive just got a little more beautiful.  Bluebonnets blanket 360’s hilly terrain this time of year, making for the perfect photo-op.  Just don’t snap and drive!

St. Edward’s University

This South Austin university is an ideal place for frolicking in the flowers.  The downtown sky line views and historic architecture found on campus are just a bonus!

Montopolis Drive

Roy G. Guerrero Park is a great spot for disk golf, swimming and bird-watching, but did you knowit is also a great place to see bluebonnets

Toll Road 130 & FM 969 in East Austin

Due to heavy and fast-moving traffic this spot can be tricky to find and pose in, so be extra careful here.
