Monthly Subscription Gift Boxes

Have you guys seen these? My girlfriend, Maria, introduced me to them when she sent one to my college Freshman her first semester off at school.  Basically, my daughter received a box of cookies every month from Maria through a subscription service!  What a great idea!? A gift that keeps on giving….and reminding my daughter that people 3 states away love her and are thinking about her regularly!  (And Maria did not have to do baking and shipping!)

I did a little research, and found some other great subscription boxes!  Here are a few:

  • Birchbox:   Beauty, makeup and skincare subscription box is about $10 per month. You can even create a personal profile and the samples in the subscription become more ‘customized’.

  • Scentbird: Perfume and/or cologne of the month that is about $15/month.  Love that this one will work for women and men!

  • Footcardigan:  Who doesn’t love a fun pair of socks? Something to make you smile and giggle and not take life to seriously. I actually gave this subscription as a Christmas gift last year to one of my nieces.

  • Try the World:  Much more notable chefs than I put this gourmet delicacy box together.  The recipient will feel like a world traveler.  The really cool part is that it includes a ‘culture guide’ for each item, which features the story behind the product and recipes that showcase it best.  You guessed it... this one is a little more expensive by starting at $39/month but the price drops the more months you subscribe to at one time.

  • My Geek Box: This subscription is a little less than $20/month. You will need to see if this really the right gift or not because it is pretty unique.  It has unique novelty items like retro inspired merchandise from the Space Invaders game.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love receiving monthly magazine subscriptions in my mailbox… but just in case you wanted to be a little more ‘out there’ in your gift giving this holiday season you should try one of these!  Maybe I should start sending these as ‘closing gifts’ to my clients!
