How Many Houses Should FirstTime Homebuyers See

When it comes to first time homebuyers there are a lot of factors that affect the amount of homes they will need to see before putting their first offer. A recent Article from U.S. News goes over some of those factors and also why some new home buyers take next to no time finding a home they are excited about and others take much longer.

Firstly, how well can a buyer describe what it is they want? For an agent having a clear idea of what a buyer wants will narrow the search significantly. When a buyer doesn’t have a clear idea they may need to see several homes to get a feel for what they need and want in a home. As a buyer, all feedback of the homes expressed to the agent will allow for the process to go thru much more smoothly; good and bad feedback will allow the agent to find homes more suiting to their client.

Secondly, how flexible is the buyer and can they identify and prioritize what it is they want? Rarely, if ever, does a person find everything they want in a single home. Being able to identify what is most important will allow a buyer to recognize when a home is a good option for them. When the priorities are in place, it is easier for a buyer to find out what they should compromise in and also assure a much more functional home they can be excited about. Sometimes envisioning a few repairs or changes can make all the difference.

And Lastly, what is the market like? Recognizing the hotness of the market, may be an incentive for a buyer to not pass up on a house they love when they come across one. Sometimes waiting to see if something better comes along can turn into a tricky situation. The last thing a buyer should feel is regret for passing up on a great house.

How many houses a new time home buyer should see will be different for each person. It may be the first house, or after having seen dozens! But taking these things into consideration will allow for a much more efficient search to find a home  the buyer loves!
