Austin And Your Neighbors House

Would you be okay with a neighbor regularly renting their house out for a week at a time?

I find Senate bill 451 interesting on that topic. According to the Austin Business Journal, one of the many issues this bill tries to tackle is the Austin ban on short-term rentals.

Have you ever rented a home or room for a short period of time? There are so many websites you can use to find temporary rentals. I have used temporary rentals in several different countries. My experience has been wonderful! Many times you can get an entire home for the price of what a room might cost. I also think it can be a good source of income for the adventurous who would rent their home to strangers.

So, should my neighbor be allowed to use his home as a temporary rental?

I like renting from those sites, but do I really want random strangers coming and going constantly in my neighborhood?

Some of those who are opposed to the bill express the point of abuse. We all know some will take advantage to party and make a lot of noise, maybe do even worse. Even in hotels we see these issues. But should a person be restricted from making some extra money renting their home out? Do we want the possibility to rent homes or rooms temporarily?

I can’t wait to find out whether this bill passes or not and what exactly it will mean.

Check out the bill and let me know what you think.
