Under The Sun In Long Beach California
I've been travelling with My Tall Clubs International friends for the last two years. During this trips, lots of the activities are pre-arranged, including our meals, but there is always one day when we get lunch or dinner on our own, and that is when I go on my adventures, searching for delicious food, particularly vegan or vegetarian food.
The last trip took me to Anaheim, California, where I joined one hundred and fifty of my tall friends from all over the US, Canada and a few from Europe.
We enjoyed many activities such as a visit to the Getty Villas, the Aquarium, the 4th of July parade in Huntington Beach, a day at Sunset Beach, and my favorite, live music and fireworks at the Hollywood Bowl. All this, in addition to the Ms. Tall pageant, banquets and dancing in the evenings.
During one of these outing, I ventured to downtown Long Beach in search of some vegan delights with one of my friends, and we found it: Under The Sun.
This is an unassuming, modern, chic and stylish place, and it is the story of two women that started a fresh cold-pressed juice journey by creating juice blends for their friends and the yogi community. This resulted in the opening of Rainbow Juices in 2012 and their first brick and mortar location opening in 2015. Next door, is their amazing Under the Sun, raw, vegan establishment.
After much debating and reading the menu over, and over, I chose to try the LBC sandwich.
This is not your typical sandwich. The Seed & Onion bread will make your taste buds scream with joy and then, the combination of guacamole, mayo, spinach, cucumber, sprouts, mustard vinaigrette, bell pepper, and earthy roots fermented beets, complete this culinary delight. On top of all this, they serve it with kale chips. Totally scrumptious!
My friend opted for the TU-NAH-WRAP. This is a sunflower seed pâté, with mayo, Green Goddess dressing, romaine, sprouts, carrots, bell pepper, cabbage, and onion, stuffed in a collar green wrap, and served with a side of kraut. I got a chance to try it too and it was just as delicious as my sandwich.
After we had this magnificent and healthy lunch, we walked over to the dessert counter, and after wishing we could order all of them, we chose two of their cheesecakes, one was blueberries and the other one called Solstice, made with strawberries, turmeric, ginger and other healthy ingredients, both delicious! These vegan cheesecakes are some of the best I've had.
